What is Idea Management

Idea Management is a new item in Gartner's Hype Cycle. Gartner believes this will be generally used in 2 to 5 years. I have never heard of it before...

What is Idea Management?
Even Wikipedia has no clue yet. As I understand it, it's mainly managing all kinds of ideas in your organization, especially from the blue collar workers. The blue collar workers do have the experise.

The problem is to act seriously at those ideas, manage these ideas and give the possibility to introduce new ideas.

Next steps
You need to take some steps before you can implement Idea Management at a professional level:
  1. Reflect, Test, and Develop the Initial Idea
  2. Find out How Ideas are Assessed or Evaluated
  3. Prepare the Why Argument
  4. Prepare the How Argument
  5. Get Support for Your Idea
  6. “Sell” Your Idea
CEOs are getting aware of the possibilites of Idea Management. There is an interesting article about the Indonesia's Professionals and Entrepreneur's Club about "the 9 signs of a losing organisation":
